Rufus Putnam } To all whom these presents shall come be it known that we Rufus
     to      } Putnam, Manasseh Cutler, Griffin Greene and Robert Oliver by
John Russell } virtue of the power and in execution of the trust reposed by
               one letter patent executed by the President of the United
States under the great seal bearing date the tenth day of May in the year of
Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety two whereby one hundred
thousand acres of land is granted and conveyed to us, our heirs and assigns in
trust for the purposes expressed in the said patent which land is butted and
bounded as therein described reference thereunto being had do hereby grant and
convey to John Russell of Marietta, yeoman in the county of Washington and
territory of the United States Northwest of the River Ohio, his heirs and
assigns forever one hundred acres of land situate in the said County of
Washington being part of the aforesaid one hundred thousand acres and is
butted and bounded as follow viz. beginning at a stake thirty eight chains
ninety links west of the line between lots No. seven and thirteen of the
fourth township in the ninth range and nineteen chains south of the line
between lots. No. thirteen and fourteen of the said township as surveyed by
Eben Sproat then running north one hundred chains twenty five links to a stake
then west seven chains seventy eight links to a stake then running south one
hundred chains twenty five links to a stake then east seven chains seventy
eight links to the place of beginning containing seventy eight acres. Also
twenty two acres bounded as follows beginning at a stake on the northern bank
of Muskingum river a hickory fifteen inches diameter bearing  thirty six
degrees west seventeen links then running north to a stake twenty chains south
of the line between lots No. nineteen and twenty of the aforesaid township
then ????? west five chains fifty four links to a stake then running south to
a stake on the bank of Muskingum a sugar tree bearing south thirty five
degrees west fifteen links a beech twenty four inches diameter north twenty
one links then easterly by the river to the place of beginning which two
described tracts contain one hundred acres and is part of two thousand seven
hundred acres laid out in one body and allotted to twenty seven settlers being
Nineteen in the plan of allotment of the first lot bounds east on land granted
to Ezra Chapman and west on Anselm Tapper the twenty two acre lot east on
Jonathan Dwol and west on Edward Tupper. To have and to hold the said granted
premises with the appurtenances to him the said John Russell, his heirs and
assigns forever in fee simple in ????? whereof we the said Rufus Putnam,
Griffin Greene and Robert Oliver for ourselves and I the Manasseh Cutler by my
attorney Rufus Putnam whom I have specially authorized and empowered for the
purpose have hereunto set our hands and seals this twenty fourth day of March
in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety four.

Washington County ss Personally appeared before me Return Jonathan Meigs one
of the Justice of the peace for said county this twenty fourth day of March
one thousand seven hundred and ninety four Rufus Putnam, Griffin Greene and
Robert Oliver the grantors aforesaid and acknowledged the above instrument to
be their voluntary act and deed and desired the same may be recorded.
