MEIGS CO., OH, DEEDS, VOL. 1, 1819-1824 pg. 80-81. Wm. Skinner, & us } To all people to whom these presents shall come greeting, To } Know ye that I William Skinner of Marietta in the State of Wm. Johnston } Ohio, Merchant, for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and eighty dollars to me in hand before ensealing hereof well and truly paid by William Johnston of Gallia County and State aforesaid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and myself therewith fully satisfied and contented have given, granted, bargained, sold, aliened, conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do freely, fully and absolutely give, grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey and confirm unto him the said William Johnston, heirs and assigns forever a certain lot of land situate in the County of Athens and State of Ohio and in the South east quarter of section thirty two and Township four and Range twelve in the plans of survey containing by estimation one hundred and sixty acres drawn originally to the name of Josiah Munson(?) and Kalfield White for the more particular bounds references hereby made to the plans and records of surveys of the Ohio Company. To have and to hold the said granted and bargained premises with all the appurtenances, privileges and commodities to the same in any wise belonging to him the said William Johnston, heirs and assigns forever. And I the said William Skinner for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators do covenant to and with the said William Johnston, heirs and assigns that before the ensealing hereof I am the true sole and lawful owner of the above bargained premises and am lawfully seized and possessed of the same in my own proper right as a good perfect and absolute estate of inheritance in fee simple and have full power and authority to sell and convey the said bargained premises in manner as aforesaid and furthermore do covenant and engage the above demised premises to him the said William Johnston, his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims or demands of any person or persons whatsoever forever hereafter to warrant, secure and defend by these presents. In witness whereof we have hereunto set my hand and seal this eighteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven. I Mary Skinner wife of the within named Wm. Skinner do hereby for the consideration within mentioned relinquish and give up all my right to dower to the within mentioned premises.
