MEIGS CO., OH, DEEDS, VOL.1, 1819-1824 pg.530-31. Wm. Skinner } To all people to whom these presents shall come, Greeting. Know To } ye that I William Skinner of Marietta, Washington County and Ezra Chapman } State of Ohio for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand before the ensealing hereof well and truly paid by Ezra Chapman of Meigs County and State of Ohio, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and myself therewith fully satisfied and contented, have given, granted, bargained, sold, aliened and confirmed, and by these presents do fully, freely and absolutely give, grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey and confirm unto him the said Ezra Chapman, his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or lot of land in Meigs County within the Ohio Comas [Company's] purchase and is one hundred acre lot numbered on the books of the Ohio Company two hundred and thirty one (231) in the twelfth range township one section four and five said lot containing one hundred acres more or less and was drawn to a share in said Company in the name of Joseph Nye of Sandwich; for further particulars reference is made to the plans and records of the Ohio Company. To have and to hold the said granted and bargained premises with all the appurtenances, privileges and commodities to the same in any wise belonging to him the said Ezra Chapman, his heirs and assigns forever. And I the said William Skinner for myself and my heirs and assigns forever and administrators, do covenant to and with the said Ezra Chapman, his heirs and assigns that before the ensealing hereof I am the true sole and lawful owner of the above bargained premises and am lawfully seized and possessed of the same in my own proper right as a good perfect and absolute estate of inheritance in fee simple and have full power and authority to sell and convey the above bargained premises in manner as aforesaid and furthermore do covenant and engage the above demised premises to him the said Ezra Chapman, his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims or demands of any person or persons whatsoever forever hereafter to warrant, secure and defend by these presents.
