DEED.  Thomas Stanley To William Skinner.

Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Stanley of Marietta in the
County of Washington, yeoman, for and in consideration of one hundred ninety
six dollars to me in hand paid before the ensealing hereof by William Skinner
of Ohio County and State of Virginia, Merchant, the receipt where of I do
hereby acknowledge to my self therewith fully satisfied and contented have
given, granted, bargained, sold, aliened conveyed and affirmed and by these
presents do freely and absolutely give, grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey
and confirm unto him the said Skinner, his heirs and assigns forever a
certain tract of land situate in the aforesaid County and in Township No.
five in the twelfth Range, containing two hundred and sixty two acres being a
lot of that quantity of acres allotted to me in my sixth division of land in
the Ohio Company's Purchase and is No. one in said allotment for a more
particular description of which lot reference may be had to the records,
plans and of the said Ohio Company. to have and to hold the said granted and
bargained premises with the appurtenances to him the said Skinner, his heirs
and assigns forever and I the said Thomas Stanley for myself, my heirs,
executors and administrators do covenant to and with the said Skinner, his
heirs and assigns that before the executing hereof I am the true, sole and
lawful owner of the above bargained premises and am lawfully seized  of the
same in my own right as a good estate in fee simple and have full power and
authority to sell the same as aforesaid furthermore I the said Thomas Stanley
for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators do covenant and engage the
above demised premises to him the said William Skinner, his heirs and assigns
against the lawful claims or demands of any person whatsoever forever
hereafter to warrant and defend.    In witness whereof I have hereunto set my
hand and seal this twenty eighth day of May in the year of Our Lord one
thousand seven hundred and ninety six.

Washington County ss. May twenty eighth one thousand seven hundred and ninety
six. Thomas Stanley personally appearing acknowledged this instrument to be
his voluntary act and deed.
