James R. Steel } Know all men by these presents that I James Ro. Steel and
     to        } Susannah Steel wife of James Steel of the County of Meigs, Ohio,
Abner Bickle   } in consideration of Three hundred and seventy-five dollars to me paid                     
                 by Abner Bickle of the same place the receipt whereof is
hereby acknowledged do hereby grant, bargain, sell and convey to the said
Abner Bickle, his heirs and assigns forever the following premises situate
in the Township of Rutland County of Meigs and State of Ohio and in
section No.Twenty-three (23), Township six (6) and Range fourteen of the
Ohio Companys purchase commencing in the road about (40) forty rods west
from the N.E. corner of said section No.(23)twenty-three, thence up a run
near said road on the east side of said run and far enough from said run
for a road, to a Bridge, thence up said run following the meanders thereof,
to an East and West line one hundred and ten rods from the N.E. corner of
said Section, thence West to land owned by Israel Stansbury thence North
one hundred and ten rods thence east to the place of beginning and all the
estate, title and interest of the said James R. Steel either in law or in
equity of in and to the said premises, together with all the privileges
and appurtenances to the same belonging. To have and to hold the same to
the said Abner Bickle, his heirs and assigns forever and the said
James R. Steel for his heirs, executors and administrators do
hereby convenant with the said Abner Bickle, his heirs and assigns,
that he is the true and lawful owner of the said premises and has full
power to convey the same and that the title so conveyed is clear free and
unincumbered; and further, that he will warrant and defend the same
against all claim or claims of all persons whatsoever.

In witness whereof the said James R. Steel and Susannah Steel wife of said
James R. Steel who hereby release her right and expectancey of dower in
the said premises has hereunto set their hands and seals on this 10th day
of March in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty
seven. Signed, sealed, acknowledged and delivered,

Meigs County      } Be it remembered that on the 10th day of March in the
                    year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty
seven before me the subcriber a Justice of the Peace personally came James
R. Steel and Susannah Steel wife of said James Steel the grantors in the
above deed and acknowledged the signing and sealing thereof to be their
voluntary act and deed for the uses and purposes therin mentioned. And the
said Susannah Steel wife of the said James R. Steel being by me examined
by me separate and apart from her said husband and the contents of said
deed being by me made known and explained to her as the Statute directs,
declared that she did voluntarily sign, seal, and acknowledge the same and
that they are still satisfied therewith as their act and deed for the uses
and purposes therein mentioned.  In testimony whereof I have hereunto
