May 24, 1871

The oldest person in Meigs County, and probably in the State, is a Mrs.
Henderson, who resides with her grand-son, a Mr. Rieser, about two miles
from Chester, on the Racine road.  Her age is 115 years.  She was born
in Eastern Virginia, but resided in Western Virginia the greater part of
her life.

Meigs County Telegraph
March 20, 1872

NELSON JOHNSON, at Adams Mills, Chester Township, in this county, caught
a large otter in Shade River, with a steel trap on Friday night last.
There are a number more of the animals about there, which the boys are
after.

January 18, 1917

Dr. S. A. McCullough, of Chester was appointed coroner of Meigs Co.
Monday afternoon by the County Commissioners to fill the unexpired
term of Robert Dawson of Middleport who recently left for parts unknown.
