STATE OF OHIO, MEIGS COUNTY, SS
     I, Aaron Stivers, Auditor of said County, do hereby certify that
the foregoing list is correctly copied from the list returned by the
Treasurer of said County in August, 1859, and as copied into the
duplicate of 1859 for said County, and that the amount annexed to each
tract or lot is correct, and  calculated as the law prescribes.
     Notice is therefore hereby given that the several tracts and lots
in said list contained, or as much thereof as will be necessary to pay
the taxes and penalty charged thereon will be sold by the Treasurer of
said County at the Court-house in the town of Pomeroy, on the second
Monday in January, 1860, between the hours of 10 o'clock A.M. and 4
o'clock P.M. of said day, unless said taxes and penalty be paid before
that time.

Sheriff's Sale - Meigs County Telegraph, May 1, 1860

     Sheriff's Sale
 
Joel BRALEY vs. John T.B. LEDLIE, and Wm. LEDLIE.
By virtue of an order of sale to me directed from the Court of Common
Pleas of Meigs County, I will offer for sale at the door of the Court
House in Pomeroy, at 11 o'clock, A.M.,
          On the 21st day of May, 1860,
the following described lands and tenements, to-wit: situate in said
county of Meigs, beginning at a post 17 chains and 25 links west of the
south-east corner of section number 2, township number 8, and range
number 15, in the Ohio Company's Purchase, at the south-west corner of
George NEIGHBORGALL's lands; thence west on said section line 16 chains
and 72 links, or to the south-west corner of James HENRY's land; thence
north 42 degrees 45 min. west 25 chains and 58 links to a post; thence
north 20 chains and 38 links, or to the east corner of said HENRY's
land; thence east 9 chains and 38 links, to the south-east corner of
John McVEY's lands to a post; thence north 8 degrees west 2 chains and
97 links to a post; thence east 41 chains 94 links, or to the east line
of said section to a post; thence south on said section line 12 chains
63 links to a post, or to the north-east corner of said George
NEIGHBORGALL's land; thence west 17 chains and 25 links, to the
north-west corner of NEIGHBORGALL's land; thence south 29 chains, or to
the place of beginning, containing 147 acres; excepting 33 acres out of
the south-east corner of said land, deeded by Cyrus BRALEY to James
THOMAS, excepting therefrom the two following lots, sold by said T.B.
LEDLIE, to-wit:  The first one beginning at the south-west corner of
said land;  thence north about 6 rods and 17 links;  thence east about
37 rods;  thence south about 6 rods and 17 links; thence west about 37
rods to the place of beginning, containing three several lots of about
one-half acre each:  also the other lot, beginning at the south-west
corner of said lands so sold by said  John to Wesley BRALEY; thence
north about 7 rods and 17 links; thence east about 12 rods to the line
of the lands owned by James THOMAS;  thence south about 7 rods and 17
links; thence west to the place of the beginning, containing about
one-half acre;  to be sold as the property of John T.B. LEDLIE, at the
suit of Joel BRALEY.  Appraised at $2,240.00  Terms of sale, cash.

Divorce Notices - Meigs County Telegraph, May 10, 1866

DIVORCE NOTICE
 
     Ira BARNS, plaintiff, vs. Elizabeth BARNS defendant.
Court of Common Pleas, Meigs county Ohio.
     The said Elizabeth Barnes of Breman in the state of Missouri, will
take notice that said Ira Barns did, on the 24th day of March, A.D. 1866
file his petition in the clerk's office of the Court of Common Pleas,
within and for said county of Meigs, charging the said Elizabeth Barns
with adultery with one Robert McKAIN, and asking that he may be divorced
from the said defendant, which petition will stand for hearing a the
next term of said Court.          IRA BARNS

Dated this 4th day of April, A.D. 1866
 
DIVORCE NOTICE
Court of Common Pleas, Meigs C., Ohio.
     Henry RUNNION, plff., vs. Lucinda RUNNION, defendant.
LUCINDA Runnion of Jackson county, in the state of West Virginia, is
notified that Henry Runnion did, on the 9th day of April, A.D. 1866,
file his petition in the Court of Common Pleas with and for the county
of Meigs and state of Ohio, charging her willful absence from said Henry
Runnion for more than three years last past without any cause or
justification therefor, on the part of said plaintiff, and asking that
he may be divorced from the said Lucinda Runnion, which petition will
stand for hearing at the next term of said Court.           HENRY

NOTICE
Syntha Ann HENRY is notified that on the 10th day of April there was
filed in the clerk's office of the court of Common Pleas for Meigs Co.,
O., a petition praying said court that Jacob HENRY may be divorced from
the said Syntha Ann Henry, and assigning for same that the said Syntha
Ann abandoned the said Jacob and has since married to one Michael
OLIVER.  Said cause stands for hearing at the next term of said

Delinquent Tax Sales - Meigs County Telegraph, January 3, 1867

     And notice is hereby given, that the whole of the said several
tracts, lots, or parts of lots, or so much thereof as will be necessary
to pay the taxes and penalty charged thereon, will be sold by the County
Treasurer, at the Court House in said County, on the third Tuesday in
January, 1867, unless said taxes and penalty be paid before that time;
and that the sale will be continued from day to day until the said
several tracts, lots, and parts of lots shall have been sold or offered
for sale.

Legal Notice - Meigs County Telegraph, March 21, 1867

LEGAL NOTICES
NOTICE
     Sarah A. Wilson, Rumelia C. Wilson, Cynthia E. Wilson, Henry C.
Wilson, Oscar A. Wilson, and Harriet J. Bailey, will take notice, that a
petition was filed against them on the 4th day of March, A.D. 1867, in
the court of Common Pleas, within and for the County of Meigs, and State
of Ohio, by Robert B. Wilson, and is now pending, wherein the said
Robert B. Wilson demands partition of the following real estate, and for
the assignment of dower therein to said Sarah A. Wilson, to wit:  All of
lot No. two, in the village of Coalport, Ohio, (now Middleport.)
 
     Also, a fractional part of lot No. four, in said village of
Coalport, (now Middleport,) bounded as follows:  Beginning at the
northeast corner of lot No. two, in the village of Coalport, thence
north along the line of Front st. to the north side of the run or the
line of V.B. Horton's, thence along north side of the run westerly and
along the line of V.B. Horton's one hundred feet, thence south about
sixty feet to the northwest corner of  lot No. two, thence east along
the line of said lot number two one hundred feet, to the place of
beginning, being in Meigs County, Ohio, and that at the next term of
said Court, the said Robert B. Wilson will apply for an order that said
dower be assigned, and that partition may be made of said premises.
