Meigs County Telegraph
March 20, 1872

On Monday last, Mr. M.T. EDMUNDSON, of Salem Township, left with his
family for Labette County, Kansas. We also learn that Messrs. David
ALESHIRE and Jacob PETERS, of the same township have left with their
families, intending to make Howard County, Nebraska, their future home.

ED. TEL.: -I have met this day with a pioneer settler of Meigs County,
who I think has not yet been mentioned in your columns. James Davis was
born in Louden County, Virginia, A.D. 1791, consequently is eighty-one
years of age. He served in the war of '12 and subsequently emigrated
to Columbia Township, Meigs County, Ohio, in 1820, and has, therefore,
been a resident 52 years. He now lives in Salem Township, enjoys good
health, and is a devout member of the Church of Christ in Danville.
      J. P. DAVIS
